"Friends" join together to make movie

September 28, 2009 update

Friends was arguably the most popular and the best sitcom ever created. In ten years, the TV show produced ten seasons and a total of 238 episodes, winning ten Emmy's and more than fifty other awards.

The last episode, named simply The Last One, was watched by 52.5 million American viewers when it aired in early 2004. Ever since then, fans have begged for a reunion of some kind. Now it appears they are getting what they want

After the enormous success of the Sex and the City movie, based on the eponymous sitcom series, rumors started appearing that a Friends movie may be coming to cinemas. The British newspaper The Daily Mail, wrote in July 2008 that a movie was due in about "18 months."

Earlier, Jennifer Aniston ("Rachel Greene"), arguably the most succesful in the business after the series's succes, was said to be the only one who was not "keen on a reunion." Now it appears that she has also give up her resistance which clears the way for a feature-length film on the big screen.

The movie will most likely be produced by Warner Brothers, with the original writers/producers, David Crane and Marta Kauffman on board. The movie is expected to be in cinemas in the summer of 2011. The film will also feature James M. Tyler in his role as coffee shop host Gunther.
